Book: Finance Shrugged: 10 years on, will the banking crisis happen again?

When: Weds 9th August 2017; 18:00 – 20:00

Where: Congress House, TUC Congress Centre, 28 Great Russell St, London, WC1B 3LS

On the day ten years ago, when inter-bank lending froze and the Great Financial Crisis began in earnest, we discuss the continuing legacy of the Great Financial Crisis and ask, will it happen again?

To address this theme we have four speakers:

  • Ann Pettifor of Policy Research in Macroeconomics (PRIME) & author of The Coming First World Debt Crisis;
  • Andrew Simms of the New Weather Institute & co-author of The New Economics;
  • Frances Coppola who writes on finance at Coppola Comment, and
  • Professor Daniela Gabor, of the University of the West of England (UWE)

Book: Finance Shrugged: 10 years on, will the banking crisis happen again?

PRIME economics is a network of economists who consider that conventional or ‘mainstream’ economic theory has proved of almost no relevance to the ongoing and chronic failure of the global economy and to the gravest threat facing us all: climate change.

The New Weather Institute is a co-op and a think-tank, created to accelerate the rapid transition to a fair economy that thrives within planetary boundaries.  www.newweather.org
